Our resort offers:

Quad biking * Off road 4 x 4

The Island has hundreds of kilometres of bush paths and trails, following the concourse of the Nkomati River on the West side and following the beach on the East side. Although driving on the beach is strictly prohibited, there are many dunes and paths that can be used. We also have lots of GPS points of interesting locations to visit.

Motor Boating * Jet skiing * Water Skiing * Wind surfing * Canoe trips * Sailing

The Nkomati river estuary opens up into a network of smaller streams, forming a lot of Islands and forms a large lagoon just before it follows into the sea. The mouth of the lagoon is permanently open and it is safe and easy to find passage into the sea.

Nature Walks * Bird Watching

The Island is home to an abundance of bird life and these can be spotted either on nature walks, in our resort, or from a boat on the Estuary for the avid bird lovers. The Island is quickly becoming a popular place for spotting of rare species of birds and water fowl.

Diving * Snorkelling

Although this is not the ideal diving destination, some interesting reefs have been discovered. Better diving is 20km away by boat and day trips can be arranged for transfer to the Inhaka Marine Reserve. There is also excellent snorkelling off Xaranfina Island which used to be a Naval fort and still boasts rusted artillery facing out to sea.

Deep Sea Fishing

Charters can be arranged for the keen sports angler. The fishing is generally very good for those with their own boats, you can launch from a launch site on the beach or through the river mouth which will be arranged. We have a selection of guides that know where the good stuff bites.

Surf/Lagoon Fishing

Although the locals net from the beach everyday, good catches are common and it is one of the rare places that Barracuda and Mackarel can be caught from the beach.

On the Lagoon and further up river there is a full array of fresh water fish and fishing is always pretty good. For those that feel like a day trip, we have a secret Tiger Fishing spot which always yields a good catch.

Sunset cruises on River Boat

By December 2009 we should have our 20m river boat commissioned which will do daily trips for hippo sittings and nightly sun downer cruises.

Sand and dune skiing

Contrary to popular belief we have some of the largest sand dunes in Southern Africa where the sport of dune boarding and dune skiing is very quickly becoming a favourite pastime. Group trips can be arranged for the adventurous.
